Update: Beautycounter is in a transition phase and rebranding to another company. In the meantime – you can find my Beautycounter favorites on this link through December 2nd. www.beautycounter.com/CHARITYSMITH
The weather is warming up and I am switching to my spring clean beauty makeup routine. I’m a pretty basic gal and I like to stick to my tried and true clean beauty favorites year-round. However, when the weather starts to warm up and my skin starts to tan, I like to switch out my warm, fall shades for some muted, pink shades. If you’ve read any of my other beauty blogs before, you know I am minimalist. The older I get (I’m 38) the less patience I have for beauty routines that take a lot of time and I’m also doing my best to “age gracefully” without all the toxins and fillers. (TRYING keyword there… no clue how I’ll feel about all this in 5-10 years). Therefore, I try to choose clean beauty products as often as I can. Why clean beauty? Here’s a post explaining why clean beauty is important.
My Spring Clean Beauty Skincare Prep
My skin is prepped here with Beautycounter’s Countertime Collection. A VERY hydrating anti-aging, clean beauty skincare line that targets fine lines, and wrinkles and lightens and brightens the skin. The main ingredient in this line is bakuchiol, which is a plant-based retinol. OBSESSED, to say the least! Oil cleanser, essence, serum, moisturizer, and eye cream. I live in Texas, so when we get to the super hot months of July, August, and September, I’ll leave out the top moisturizer during the daytime.

My Spring Clean Beauty Makeup Routine
FACE
Tinted Moisturizer, Sunscreen and Foundation
Everyday Minimal Makeup Look: I apply Beautycounter’s Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. It has just a tiny bit of color and coverage with spf 20.
Daytime Work Look: I apply Beautycounter’s Countersun Daily Sheer Defense (with spf 25) and then I apply Beautycounter Skin Twin Foundation.
Night Out: Beautycounter Skin Twin Foundation
Concealer
I then apply Beautycounter’s Skin Twin Creamy Concealer to brighten the under-eye area and any other areas with redness, then blend in with a beauty blender.
Bronzer (for day time work or night out)
I use my bronzer as a contour. Below the cheekbones, under the jawline/chin, around the forehead and lining the edges of my nose.
Powder (for daytime work or night out)
Next up, Beautycounter’s transluscent mattifying powder. This isn’t like the 1990’s Covergirl powder, think light and translucent, just there to soak up any excess oil, not to cake down or sink in the creases. (Ladies, too much powder is not our friend as we age. Just a little transluscent powder around your T-zone will do.)
Blush
For spring and summer, I personally love Beautycounter’s cheeky clean cream blush in “cider”. It’s a peachy/pink shade. Beautiful. This is a multi-tasker product too. I use it for a quick eye shadow and lipstick some days.

EYES
Eye Shadow: I’ve been loving Beautycounter’s cream shadow lately. It stays all day and it’s super easy and convenient.
Eye liner: I’ve recently switched over to brown eye liner. I love the soft smokey look it gives. I line the upper and lower lids and blend it in.
Lastly, I finish off the eyes with my favorite mascara, Thrive Causmetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara in black.

BROWS
Brows are actually a very important part of my makeup routine. I find full brows really frame the face. I use a brow pencil to fill in any sparse areas.

LIPS
I have found the older I get a good lip liner is my best friend. It makes the lips appear bigger and fuller and lasts a long time. I line the outsides of my lip then usually blend with my finger. Beautycounter recently launched their lip liners and they are awesome!
Every day casual look: I apply my lip liner and then top it off with Beautycounter’s Clean Swipe Hyaluronic Lip Balm (in shade “plush”) or Beautycounter’s lip gloss
Work Day or Night out: I apply the lip liner, then my lipstick.
Beautycounter’s Lip Defining Pencil “In Pink Blossom”
Beautycounter Clean Swipe Hyaluronic Lip Balm (“Pinch” or “Plush” for spring/summer)
Beautycounter Beyond Gloss Lip Gloss (For Spring/Summer: Bare Shimmer, Peony, Magnolia Shimmer, Brulee, Quartz Shimmer)
Beautycounter’s Statement Maker Satin Lipstick: (Inspired, Independent, Confident & Electric)

Clean Sunscreen
Sunscreen is a must, especially during the spring and summer. These are the ones I use below.
Tinted Moisturizer with spf 20 – Beautycounter’s Dew Skin.
Sheer Face Sunscreen (spf 25) – Countersun for face
Kid’s face sunscreen (spf 30) – Countersun stick
Spray sunscreen for the whole fam (spf 30) – Countersun Mist
Clean Self-Tanners
I need a good clean self-tanner that tans up my pasty white legs in the spring. 😉 I am a BIG FAN of Beauty by Earth. Their stuff works like the toxic stuff but it’s safe for you. Below are the items I use.
Face Drops – self tanner tanning drops
Mousse – self tanner mousse
Lotion – self tanner lotion
