When you look up the word “poised” in the dictionary……well.. hang on…none of us actually pick up a dictionary anymore, unfortunately. 😉 So let me rephrase that. When you “google” the word “Poised” it will say something along these lines. “Having a composed and self-assured manner or having a graceful and elegant bearing.” While I’d love to think that I’m perfectly poised all the time that is just definitely not the case. Ha! However, if you keep reading the other meanings of poised you will find “MARKED BY BALANCE or equilibrium, easy composure of manner or bearing.” That is the definition of Poised that I am referring to with this blog.
After several years of working with clients, friends, and family to achieve healthier lifestyles, I’ve seen that extremes and diets just do not last and can do more harm than good. I’ve also been extremely “crunchy” at one point in my life and then I realized how much pride I had in that type of lifestyle and how little room there was for a balanced perspective.
While my family and I eat pretty clean, try to avoid toxins in our life and try to treat illnesses naturally first….we also leave room in our life for dinner out on the town, the occasional toxic product if we can’t find a good safe alternative and the opportunity for Doctor’s to do their job. That all may sound a little silly but there is a lot of extremes if you look around. I believe there is enough room for a little bit of both. If you hang around long enough, you will find I am a huge advocator for balance in all areas of life. Lastly, the main reason why I promote this balanced and grace-filled philosophy is that at the end of the day….my hope and faith are in Jesus Christ alone and I rest in that peace and that is my hope for you as well.
