Simple and neutral winter home decor after Christmas is not the easiest look to pull off. The holidays are over, spring is not yet here….how do we even decorate? In this post, I’m sharing some of my simple and neutral winter home decor ideas that come in handy once the tree and stockings have been taken down.
When we were packing all the Christmas decorations away, I started playing around with some of the “winterish” decor items that could still work post-Christmas. You may recall from my previous post, Simple and Neutral Christmas Home Tour, there was a good amount of Christmas decor to sort through. I’m not quite ready for the colors of spring, so I held onto a few Christmas decor items that could transition our home to spring and everything else returned to the attic.
You’ll notice I didn’t go over-board. The key to simple and neutral winter home decor after Christmas is to keep things pretty simple, so come spring, I can easily pack it away in a “winter home decor” bin and it’s not a whole process. One theme you’ll see I did throughout is use a darker green for any greenery. Come spring, I’ll pull out the lighter greenery.
Front Porch
My transitional welcome mat is still working through this season. I sprinkled leftover trimmings from our Christmas tree around the lanterns to add a “winterish” feel. The wreath I chose this year works just fine for winter. It didn’t scream “Christmas” too much so I kept it there.

Entry
There wasn’t a whole lot that I changed up in the entry, but I did replace the 4 ft flocked Christmas tree I had here with my regular fiddle leaf fig tree. I kept the winter cozy blanket and pillow and the lantern. The lantern had fairy lights inside it for Christmas, so I just removed those and left the Christmas tree trimmings and candle.

Dining Room
This arched mirror was over my fireplace in our hearth room for Christmas. I moved it back to the dining room here and kept the wreath on it. I’m not sure what it is, but I just love the simplicity of wire wreath.
This olive branch garland is pretty versatile because it’s a darker green so it works well for Christmas and winter. These candlesticks did not disappoint this season so I may keep these around and move them around from the mantle to this dining room. I think they shout “simple elegance,” which is what I’m going for in this room.

Kitchen
In the kitchen, I kept the green magnolia leaf wreaths hanging from the cabinets. They are a darker green so I felt the worked great for winter. On the cutting board over to the left, I switch out the cookbook seasonally. I like the darker green colors on this cookbook. Everything else you see are items I use throughout our house year-round.

Well, that’s all folks. Super simple, right? Perhaps my simple and neutral winter home decor sparked some ideas for ya. If not this year, perhaps for next. Next time I do a home decor post, it will be for spring, and I can’t wait to bring in all the blush, light pink, and light green colors! Until next time, stay warm and cozy this winter, friends.
