I’m a simple and neutral girl, y’all and you shouldn’t expect anything different from my Christmas Decor. I hope you enjoy my simple and neutral Christmas home decor tour.
UPDATE: This post is from our old home in Prosper, TX. We moved a couple years ago, but my style remains the same and I still use these Christmas home decor items in my current house. Shop all updated Christmas items listed below the photos for your shopping ease. Enjoy!
I am inviting you into my humble abode as I share my simple and neutral Christmas Home Tour. As each year passes, time seems to speed up and more things seem to pile onto our schedules. I’ve found myself simplifying in most areas of my life and my home decor is no different. I have found this strategy clears my head space a bit and I can focus on what is most important, especially around the holidays.
Front Porch
Beginning on our porch, I wanted to keep it simple and neutral but also welcoming. These outdoor lanterns are super affordable and work great for most seasons as you could change up the decor inside of them. The lanterns do not have glass in case a strong wind were to blow. To add a Christmas touch, I took linen ribbon and tied bows on the lanterns. I also added some greenery to the bottom of the lantern underneath the candle. You could use natural or faux greenery. I took wire cutters and cut about 6 short pieces of inexpensive garland and threw them in there. However, if you get a live tree for Christmas, a few little branches from the tree would be adorable in there. I found the doormats a couple months ago for my fall decor and I’ve loved them.

I immediately fell in love with this little tree in the right hand corner. Doesn’t it just have a charming feel to it? Like it’s warm and fuzzy. ๐ It’s a pre-lit, plug-in, 4 ft, artificial tree and super affordable. I took the base off of the bottom of the tree and just shoved that cute little thing in the bucket. It worked out perfectly!
Entry
Well, come on in, y’all! This is our little entry area. I like to keep it simple but cozy here. I traded my 4 ft fiddle leaf fig tree for this adorable little flocked tree.
Speaking of enchanting,….there’s something enchanting and magical about fairy lights isn’t there? I wasn’t real sure what I wanted to add on this bench, besides the cozy blanket and pillow, so I started playing around with this lantern that used to be on my mantle. I added the fairy lights with the candle and then decided to repeat the greenery at the bottom of the lantern again, for a transitional vibe walking into our home from the outside.
Formal Dining
This is our formal dining room. I don’t think a formal dining room is necessary in all homes. I think you need to decide if it fits your lifestyle. For us, we love to host our family and friends in our home, therefore we get plenty of use out of our formal dining room.

I was going for a simple but elegant vibe in here for Christmas. I knew from the beginning, I just wanted one simple strand of garland with candlesticks. This is faux olive branch garland. I thought initially I wanted to go with eucalyptus garland, but I actually ended up liking the more formal vibe that the olive branch garland gave. These candles are all LED battery powered. I have boys…I can’t just leave unattended open fire going in my house. ๐
Glitter Pine Trees | Faux Mini Flocked Pre-Lit Trees | Mini Bottle Brush Christmas Trees | Ceramic Houses | White Nativity Scene
I’ve always wanted a little Christmas village with a nativity set for our home but I couldn’t find anything too neutral, until this year. I asked the boys…”Boys, what do you think of the new nativity set?” My youngest replied….”It’s white….” Like… shocker, mom, you bought another thing that’s white. ๐ They know my love for all things white runs deep. However, I do let them go to town on their little Christmas tree upstairs and it has all the colors.
Isn’t this just precious, though? I think this nativity set is just the sweetest thing. If you are in search of a neutral nativity set, it’s a great one.
Kitchen
I added very minimal Christmas decorations to our kitchen because I need this area to be very functioning, as we spend most of our time in here. The magnolia wreaths hanging on the cabinets, the “Fig” cookbook on the stand, the Christmas tree sign, and the Christmas tray are my Christmas decor items this year.
Christmas Tree Sign | Magnolia Wreaths | Fig Cookbook
The Christmas tree sign was a craft I designed at a “sign making” neighborhood party a few years ago and I still love it. I’ve linked one that is similar.
This tray is an item that I can see myself using for every season. The lady at the checkout said “that tray has been very popular this season.” I can totally see why! It’s adorable and very versatile!
Large Glass Jar | Artificial Snow | Mini Pinecones | Mini Bottle Brush Trees | Tray | Jingle Bell Ornaments | Green Candle | Beaded Garland | Faux Pine Tree | Tag | Mini Ceramic House
Decorating this tray was fun and I really enjoyed creating the “winter wonderland” in a jar for the boys. They loved it! For the rest of the tray, I threw on some simple, beaded garland, jingle bell ornaments, a mini ceramic house, a little faux pine tree and a simple green candle.
Hearth Room
Cypress Garland | Fairy Lights | Candlesticks | Candles | Stockings | Gold Stocking Holders | Christmas Wreath | Ring Wreath with Jingle Bells |
Let’s step into my cozy hearth room. This room was an area I wasn’t sure I would love when we initially built the house, but it came with the floor plan, therefore there was no “cutting it out.”
Surprisingly enough, the hearth room has become my very favorite room. We often have a nice glass of wine by the fire, read a good book, or catch up on our bible study. The boys also like to escape to this room if they are craving some alone time. I’ve found the very best conversations take place in this room as well.
Therefore, I wanted to keep the hearth room feeling neutral and cozy while adding a little bit of simple elegance for Christmas . When I initially saw this garland, I knew that is what I wanted on my mantle. It did not disappoint. I wrapped a couple battery powered fairy lights around the garland and they gave it the exact look I was going for.
I can’t say enough about these candlesticks. They are the same ones I have on my kitchen table. They are extremely simple but elegant. I used LED battery powered, tapered candlesticks in these as well.
The wreath on top of the mirror has just a touch of black so it balances out the fire place itself. I took green, velvet ribbon to secure the wreath to the back of the mirror.
Of course, we can’t forget Santa! Isn’t this just the cutest little “cookies and milk” set? I showed the boys and my oldest said, “Mom…Santa doesn’t need something that fancy.” “Oh!” I said. “Well, I think he may enjoy it.” ๐
Our Christmas Tree
My Favorite Unlit 7.5 ft Faux Christmas Tree | White Beaded Garland | Christmas Tree Collar | Gold & White Ornaments | Angel Wing Ornaments | Poinsettia Ornaments | Champagne Ornaments | White and Gold Ornaments
The star of the show ….the Christmas tree. In the past years, we’ve used artificial pre-lit Christmas trees. However, a few years ago we had a section of lights go out and no matter what we did….we couldn’t get them to come back on. So.. we are a little “scarred” from large, pre-lit Christmas trees.
Last year, my sweet friend Carlye, encouraged me to go the “live Christmas tree” route. Therefore, we headed to Home Depot to pick out our tree. The kids got a kick out of it and we all throughly enjoyed having a live Christmas tree in our home for Christmas. We did the same this year as well. We went with a 9-10 foot Fraser fir Christmas Tree. It is a bit big for my liking, however the tree fits the space.
Update: We’ve gone back to the artificial tree. lol! Too much maintenance. This is my favorite 7.5 foot artificial unlit Christmas Tree. This is what we have in our current home: My Favorite Unlit 7.5 ft Faux Christmas Tree
Since my theme was simplicity this Christmas, I minimized my tree decor as well. I gotta tell ya, this was so refreshing! I used about half the ornaments I normally use, and replaced my burlap ribbon that I usually have threaded through the tree, with this simple white, beaded garland. Gold and white was the color theme I went with.
The presents
White & Gold Wrapping Paper | Jute Twine | Kraft Paper Tags | Pine Sprigs | White Gift Boxes
Let me just throw a dose of “real” at ya for a minute. These are completely fake! My mom and I wrapped these to throw under the tree for looks. We never put our presents out until Christmas, so it is kind of nice to have something under the tree…real or not. If anyone breaks into our house to steal our presents, they will be very disappointed to say the least. However, if you are looking for a simple, minimalistic gift wrapping idea, I’ve linked the items I used below.
Well…thats all folks! Thank you so much for tagging along. Simple and neutral Christmas home decor doesn’t have to be complicated, in fact, less is more. I hope you enjoyed the tour and maybe you were able to grab a little bit of Christmas inspiration. If you recreate any of these looks, I’d love see! Merry Christmas, friends! And happy decorating!
