Why did I create these workouts for kids?
I started creating workouts for my own kids over the summer and many people asked if I would share what I was doing for them. So I looked online to see if there was something already created for kids that I could easily share with clients, friends & family. However, as I scoured the internet, I realized there were little to no workouts that I approved of. That being – functional fitness workouts for kids. While there are several in-person programs for kids in the city, there aren’t many online options for those that prefer to work out at home or live in a rural area. Therefore, I created these functional workouts for kids and I hope you and your kids enjoy them.
What to Expect from the workouts.
Workouts are 20-30 minutes long. The foundational and Intermediate workouts are bodyweight only, no equipment is needed, however, you will need plenty of space to do the exercises. It is very important that kids develop good body weight strength before starting any sort of resistance training with equipment.
These workouts are through my online personal training portal. You’ll create an account and have access to the portal for 6 months from the date you purchase the workout. You can “mirror” on a big screen, use the app or print the workout out. (If you have an older kid and they have their own device, they may like having the app on their device.)
Each exercise/movement is demonstrated in a short video. These workouts are excellent for building a strong core while establishing a great foundation for fitness. You’ll want to go through the workout a couple of times with your child so they understand the correct form and movements. Then I suggest putting together a fun workout playlist for your child to keep it fun and light for them. Once they understand the form and movements, the older kids may be able to do their workouts on their own. Make sure and talk to your child about how important it is that they do the exercise with good form so they don’t hurt themselves. Always “Form over Function.”
These workouts are designed to build upon each other. Start with the foundational workout and do it for 3-4 weeks 2-3x/week. Then progress to the intermediate workout and do it for 3-4 weeks and so on.
